Talk of the Town: Got Milk? When North Haledon Had Cows
Believe it or not, there once was a time when North Haledon had cows! On Tuesday, May 19th at 1:30 p.m., John Dyksen will present a history of the dairy industry in North Haledon going back to the late 1800s. John has been a resident of North Haledon for over 50 years and is a collector of old milk bottles and other dairy memorabilia from Passaic County and northwestern Bergen County. He is currently working on a book that describes the history of each of the over 200 dairies in these counties. His PowerPoint presentation will include information about Passaic County dairies, North Haledon dairies, and Ideal Farms. He will have examples of old milk bottles and photos of the trucks that were used to deliver the milk. Refreshments (including milk!) will be served. The Talk of the Town series is held monthly in observance of the Borough’s 125th Anniversary.
