Spirit of ’76: Lectures for America’s 250th
On Tuesday, April 7th at 1:30 p.m., engaging storyteller and retired school teacher Ken Karnas will return to North Haledon to present Two Stories of Women Who Fought for Freedom, Independence, & Justice. He will share the story of 16 year-old Sybil Luddington who rode through the night to rally the colonial militia to fight the British during the burning of Danbury, Connecticut. Karnas will also tell the true story of Ona Judge, George and Martha Washington’s enslaved servant and her courageous journey to freedom. The Spirit of ’76: Lectures for America’s 250th series is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
