Meandering With Mario: A Walk Along the Old Croton Aqueduct (OCA)

A National Historic Landmark, the OCA, built between 1837 and 1842, brought desperately needed fresh water to an epidemic infested New York City.  We’ll meet at the library at 9:30 a.m., board a 14-passenger Executive Shuttle Van, and head to Croton Gorge Park in Westchester County.  With Mario Medici, licensed NYC tour guide leading the way, we will visit the impressive Croton Dam, and then board the van for a short ride to Ossining.  We’ll walk along the Ossining Sing Sing Kill Greenway to view the unique Double Arch Bridge and then visit the Ossining Weir.  After stopping for lunch in downtown Ossining, we will walk to the Hudson River waterfront to enjoy the scenery.  At 2:30 p.m. we will board our van for the trip home. Wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking about 2 miles.  Cost, which is $75 for the general public and $70 for members of Friends, covers transportation and gratuities.

To r.s.v.p., stop by the library with a check made payable to Friends of the North Haledon Library.  Meandering with Mario is co-hosted by the Friends and the Library Board of Library Trustees.
